Really needing a rip? These are today’s best bang-for-the-buck boxes. The Rip Score asks one question: if you crack a box today, how much card value comes out per dollar of box? It starts from each set’s card value ÷ box price (vs its game’s norm), then subtracts when the sealed box itself is still climbing — supply drying up or price rising means the shrink is doing the earning, so it says hold sealed instead. Young sets get a nudge up (singles run hottest early); long out-of-print sets get a nudge down; sets whose value is mostly unsellable bulk get docked, while sets stacked with $10+ hits get a boost. The lottery tag is separate on purpose: high = the set’s value sits in a few jackpot cards (bigger thrill, streakier outcomes), low = value spread thin — it tells you about the ride, not the value.
